Construction is kicking off on a long-awaited Farmers Branch restaurant and retail development.
Centurion American Development Group is building the waterfront project in its Mercer Crossing project on LBJ Freeway near Luna Road.
The Mercer Crossing Boardwalk is planned to have more than 60,000 square feet of construction, including a namesake boardwalk along the lake.
“We’re excited to break ground on this piece of Mercer Crossing, which will be a great addition to the dining and retail landscape in Farmers Branch,” Mehrdad Moayedi, president and CEO of Centurion American, said in a statement.
Centurion American was forced to delay construction of the Mercer Crossing Boardwalk project while it made improvements to the lake, which was built in the 1980s.
The retail and restaurant center was designed by Bush Architects.
The first restaurants in Mercer Crossing Boardwalk are scheduled to open by early next year. The initial tenants include Primo’s MX Kitchen & Lounge, a Tex Mex restaurant and Italian-American restaurant Sfereco.
Centurion American’s surrounding Mercer Crossing project includes 975 home sites, 1,700 apartments and independent living units. There’s also 100,000 square feet of office space.
