Construction is continuing at Collin Creek, set to bring a new, pedestrian-friendly mixed-use project to Plano.
According to Rob Romo, Centurion American’s project executive over the Collin Creek redevelopment, construction crews are working on single-family detached townhomes as well as the amenity center, including a swimming pool and main areas for those townhomes. Crews are also working on finalizing an underground garage, while demolishing some of the edges of the old mall to construct a retaining wall on the west side to hold up a street called Paseo Lane that will overlook courtyard areas below.
According to Romo, Brightland Homes is projected to complete its model homes in the next 60 days, while Mattamy Homes and Ashton Homes are slated to complete their models after.
Following residential construction, crews will begin laying down horizontal infrastructure, according to Romo.
“We’d like to get the horizontal infrastructure on the east side and on the west side around the core mall, retail component,” he said. “So that comes next. We’re waiting on approvals, and then we’ll start putting in a horizontal infrastructure: water, sewer, storm [drains], streets around that core retail.”
Construction on the east side has been delayed as the city works on its underground culvert, Romo said.
Centurion American is working on redesigning the interior of the mall, bringing retail to the center.
