Council approves rezoning to allow multifamily near Iron Horse development

As Centurion American continues developing its Iron Horse Village near the Mesquite Arena, it aims to add high density apartments in hopes of spurring entertainment uses. 

At a Feb. 5 Mesquite City Council meeting, the council approved a rezoning of a plot of land, located at 410 Rodeo Blvd., from commercial to multifamily in a 5-2 vote. Councilmembers Elizabeth Rodriguez-Ross and Tandy Boroughs voted against the rezoning. The 6.4-acre plot proposed a 220-unit development, spanning two U-shaped buildings with courtyards encompassed by each, to be “amenitized,” according to a presentation by Planning Director Jeff Armstrong.
